Background
Northern Lights is a highly celebrated indica within the medical and recreational communities. This classic strain has a rich history and is well loved for its lofty, physical euphoria. Bred from Thai and Afghani landrace strains, Northern Lights is a pure indica down to its core. Some say Northern Lights has roots in Holland and was bred sometime after 1985 by Super Sativa Seed Club, which is now known as Sensi Seeds. The indica quickly gained popularity in Seattle, Washington shortly thereafter and has spawned well-loved hybrids including Super Silver Haze and Shiva Skunk throughout the years.
Appearance, Aroma and Flavour
The buds are long conical-shaped nuggets with dense spiralling lumps that resembles a tiny pine tree. The flowers are just as visually spectacular as its namesake with swirls of green, hints of purple and blue, threads of fire orange pistils, and speckled with sparkling white trichomes. Opening a bag of these beauties is like having the aurora borealis localized entirely in your hands. The aromatic and flavour profile is just as enjoyable as its appearance. The buds give off a sweet pine scent with hints of citrus, spice, and pungent undertones.
Effects and Medical Uses
The strain’s relaxing and calming effects settle quickly from head to toe. An uplifting and mellow cerebral experience melts stress and anxiety as physical relaxation embraces the body like a weighted blanket. As time goes on, you’ll feel yourself sink more into the chill vibes that can caress you to sleep. Medicinal users enjoy the strain to help treat anxiety, chronic pain, muscle spasms, and insomnia. Northern Lights is best enjoyed in the evening or at the end of a long day when you’re ready to unwind.
